This “faith” we just talked about is a super-important concept. I’ve often found that a picture is worth a lot of words, so here’s one that is meaningful to me. Picture yourself on one side of a big chasm and God is way on the other side. The chasm is caused by our sin and is what separates us from God. Our natural inclination is to try to build a bridge across the chasm using whatever good deeds we can come up with. The problem is that the chasm is really big, and our bridge just won’t even come close to making it across, and collapses from its own weight. Then God says, “Try this.” And he lays down a huge cross that crosses the whole chasm, and says “My son gave this for you to use. You can put your full weight on it. Trust me.” I’ve done that. I’ve put my trust in that cross, and I will continue to do so for the rest of my life. https://biblehub.com/romans/10-9.htm (read thru v. 11)
